Expanded Microsoft File Storage

100 GB File Size for OneDrive and SharePoint

Microsoft is increasing the maximum file size from 15GB to 100GB for a single file.

Thomas Group previously announced this feature late in 2019, and we are fully rolling out to all users. This feature is available now for immediate use.

This change applies to OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online.  For best performance, we recommend uploading very large files using the OneDrive Desktop client.

Why does this matter for your business?

If you use often send or need to receive large file types, the process of sending via email can be tedious. Finding files, creating sharable links that don’t expose too much, not to mention accidentally copying and pasting the wrong links to the wrong recipients…yikes! With the increased capacity, your emails with attachments can be sent faster and simpler.

This offering also better protects your company drivers and servers. Sending file links from private cloud drives like Amazon Cloud, Google Cloud, or Dropbox can open your drives to phishing or malicious acts. By sending files via email as attachments, you are limiting the number of people who can directly access any part of your private drives and servers.

In short, this increase enables productivity, storage, and protection on large files in your organization.
