How to Market Your Business On The Web – Free

Your business is important to you. I know it is to me. You want customers, patients, clients, and people calling your business. The big yellow book is not enough.

Your Business Needs To Be Found.

Here are some free steps that you can take to get your business found on the web. (I’m not just talking web but mobile and smartphones too.)

Get into Google and Bing local listings. (Yahoo too!)

When you create these free business profiles you want to make sure you:

Add your business information including phone numbers.
Pick the correct categories for your business. (This is important especially in Google. If you are not sure what category you should be in look at a competitors Google Map.)
Add photos, show some friendly personality.
Add video. A YouTube account is free! You don’t have to add professional 5 minute videos. Add a 30 second video explaining the gist of your business.
Do not use websites that redirect or websites that are forwarded with masking. (This is against Google Places terms of service. And I have seen some of my clients penalized for doing this.

If you “Google” your business and you find that you already have a Google map, make sure it is claimed and use the free advice above to pump up your map listing.
